Privacy Policy

Effective date: 1 May 2026

This privacy policy explains what personal data SideTax ("we", "us", "our") collects, how we use it, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

SideTax is a free UK side hustle tax calculator operated as a sole trader by the site owner. Contact: hello@sidetax.co.uk.

2. What data we collect

2.1 Calculator inputs (not collected)

All tax calculations run entirely in your browser. Numbers you type into the calculator are never sent to our servers and we never see them. Close the page and the data is gone.

2.2 Email address (only if you submit one)

If you sign up for the SideTax Tracker waitlist, we collect your email address. We use it solely to notify you when the Tracker product launches. You can unsubscribe at any time. We do not share your email with third parties.

2.3 Anonymous analytics

We may use a privacy-friendly analytics tool (e.g. Plausible, Simple Analytics, or similar) that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. Aggregate page-view counts and referrer source are recorded; individual visitors are not identifiable.

2.4 Server logs

Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) keeps standard server logs (IP address, request timestamp, requested URL) for security and abuse-prevention purposes. These logs are retained as per Cloudflare's standard policy.

3. Cookies

SideTax does not set its own cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party social media trackers.

4. Legal basis for processing

5. How long we keep data

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access your data, rectify inaccurate data, request erasure, restrict processing, object to processing, and data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the contact address. We respond within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

7. International transfers

If our hosting or email provider stores data outside the UK, transfers are made under appropriate safeguards (e.g. UK adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses).

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top reflects the latest version.
